Intense discussions are underway for the incoming Afghan government
Pakistan Saturday called out to Russia, Turkey, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), for Intense discussions are underway for the incoming Afghan government and emphasizing that security and prosperity in Afghanistan are “very vital” for the whole region, as the Taliban enter the last stages of putting together Afghan government.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi talked with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, and OIC Secretary General Yousef bin Ahman Al-Othaimeen to highlight the significance of a permanent political solution in Afghanistan.
The secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation also informed the foreign minister of a “extraordinary meeting” of the organisation on August 22 (Sunday) to examine the fast changing Afghan environment. Qureshi went on to say that the current scenario in Afghanistan necessitated continued international involvement in order to ensure long-term peace and financial improvement.
Qureshi discussed diplomatic ties and the ongoing scenario in Afghanistan with his Turkish colleague, according to the Foreign Office. Qureshi emphasized the importance of an integrated political settlement as the best way ahead, repeating Pakistan’s support for a happy, secure, and successful Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC), according to the foreign minister, has highlighted the significance of peace and stability in Afghanistan for Pakistan and the area.
Qureshi expressed hope that Afghan leadership would work together to reach a meaningful political agreement. He also informed his Turkish colleague about Pakistan’s assistance in the removal of personnel from embassies, foreign organisations, news organizations, and other organisations.
Cavusoglu commended Pakistan’s role in the current crisis and voiced support to Foreign Minister Qureshi for supporting Turkey’s evacuation operations. Qureshi noted the concept of Pakistan and Russia as members of the Troika Plus, with China playing a key role in achieving peace in Afghanistan, with Lavrov.
In a second phone call, the foreign minister have spoken Al-Othaimeen of the OIC and shared opinions on Afghanistan’s quickly changing circumstances.
Qureshi said in a statement issued by the Foreign Office that Pakistan would continue to play a positive role in fostering long-term peace and stability in Afghan government.
