Police officers in Northern Ireland have been hit with petrol bombs and stones

IRELAND (Monitoring Desk) The situation in Northern Ireland became out of control, with sieges and police being targeted with petrol bombs and stones. The number of people wounded in the one-week-long riots has risen to 55, according to the news agency. Children were among those who assaulted the officers. Officials retaliated by spraying protesters with water cannons.

Efforts to keep the violence between pro-British and nationalist groups under control have so far failed. The White House and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson have also declared an end to the abuse.
