Since COVID-19 start: A record 157 deaths from coronavirus in Pakistan in one day
ISLAMABAD (Monitoring Desk) A recorded 157 deaths from coronavirus in Pakistan just one day, the largest number of deaths in one day since the COVID-19 b start last year. Coronavirus killed a total of 153 people in Pakistan on June 20, 2020.
Government officials are considering a full lockdown around the country, which would include the closing of markets, malls, public transportation, and schools. In addition, the Punjab province tasked the army to five cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Gujranwala, to facilitate local authorities in enforcing the preventive measures.
With a death rate from coronavirus in Pakistan is 2.2 percent, the maximum number of deaths has now reached 16,999. According to the National Command and Operation Center’s (NCOC) official portal, 98 coronavirus patients died in Punjab, with 37 deaths in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Punjab leads the way with 7,897 deaths from coronavirus, followed by Sindh with 4,587 deaths, KP with 3,066 deaths, Islamabad with 657 deaths, AJK with 458 deaths, Balochistan with 230 deaths, and Gilgit-Baltistan with 104 deaths from coronavirus.
The national coronavirus positivity rate has risen from 10.90 percent to 11.27 percent in one day, with another 5,908 people testing positive for the COVID-19.
The number of active coronavirus cases has risen to 86,529, with 686,488 cases recovered in one day, indicating an 86.9% recovery rate. In 3rd waves of the COVID-19, 790,016 patients have been reported.
In the meantime, the Punjab School Education Department (SED) has released an updated notification about the closing of public and private schools in the province. All academic activities and classes, including 9th to 12th grades, in all public and private schools in 15 districts, including Bahawalpur, Bhakkar, Sheikhupura, Lahore, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Jhang, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Rawalpindi, Multan, Sargodha, , Okara, and Toba Tek Singh, will be suspended with immediate effect, according to the Punjab School Education Department (SED).
