Goverment decided to keep schools closed in Pakistan till Eid
ISLAMABAD (Monitoring Desk) Due to concerns about the spread of the corona virus, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood declared that the government has decide to schools closed schools in Pakistan from first to eighth grade classes till Eid-ul-Fitr.
Under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood, an inter-provincial consultation of education ministers was held, with the participation of education ministers from the four provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood said in a tweet on the social networking site Twitter that the meeting agreed to closed schools through out the country from the first to the eighth grade classes till Eid. He stated that all of the education ministers’ conclusions were reached by agreement during the meeting.
According to the federal education minister, classes in the affected districts will begin one day at a time, with the exception of the ninth to twelfth days.
The aim of starting the classes, he explained, is to allow students to prepare for the board exams. Exams for classes 9th and 12th will not take place until the last week of May. The exams for classes 9th to 12th will be conducted on new dates, according to Shafqat Mahmood, and the new dates will be declared by the relevant board.
He stated that admissions to universities would be made in accordance with the new examination schedule, and that online classes would begin in the universities of the affected districts. Universities will be founded in districts with much less than 8% cases, according to the federal education minister. A level, O level, AS, and IGCSE exams will run on time, according to Shafqat Mahmood.
