‘Absolutely not,’ says PM Imran Khan ON HBO Axios interview when asked if the US should use Pakistani bases in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD (Monitoring Desk) Prime Minister Imran Khan has rejected the US request for military sites in Afghanistan for future operations. The statement was made during an HBO Axios interview with Jonathan Swan, which will air Monday at 3:00 A.M. PST. Prime Minister Imran Khan repeated Pakistan’s position on the use of military outposts, emphasizing that Islamabad will not accept it.

The prime minister was questioned by an American journalist about allowing the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) access to Pakistani military bases under Pervez Musharraf’s administration. Will you enable the CIA to execute cross-border counter-terrorism activities against Al Qaeda, ISIS, and the Taliban on behalf of the US government in Pakistan?” Swan enquired of the Prime Minister.

We’re not going to accept any bases or military activities in Afghanistan from Pakistani land. Certainly not. Axios interview on HBO is a documentary news programme that blends Axios journalists’ reporting with HBO filmmakers’ experience to examine the intersection of technology, media, business, and politics.

Interviews with former US President Donald Trump, Sundar Pichai, Elon Musk, Mary Barra, now US President Joe Biden, Andrew Yang, and Kamala Harris, among others, have been included in the program. To keep militancy at bay, the US is in negotiations with Pakistan and other regional governments about future operations in the war-torn country.
